Subscribing to Mailing Lists
Once a list is setup members can choose to subscribe to it as follows...

-
Click the 'My Account' text in the 'Navigation' panel on the left of the screen towards the bottom.
-
Click 'Edit Account' from the tabs just below the menu bar.
-
Click 'Mailing List Register' from the tabs that now appear below.
-
You will now see a list of the available mailing lists
-
To subscribe to a list click the radio button next to 'Subscribe' for each one you wish to subscribe to.
-
Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'Submit'
You will now be subscribed to the lists you have choosen and will received an email for each one welcoming you to the list and detailing how you can send messages to the others on the list.
It is vital that your email address as recorded on the website is correct.
When you subscribe to a mailing list the email recorded on the Team MK
website (the one you put on your application form, unless you have
since updated it) will be used as the target for the emails of the
list. If its wrong you wont see a thing. See the Team MK Faq if you dont know how to update your email address.
Usage Notes
Please use the mailing list functionality carefully. Do not spam
the list with rubbish, keep messages on topic and be brief. Remember
that messages are private to the list members and will not be seen by
other members of Team MK so make sure that public information that
would be useful to a wider audience (Team MK members and beyond) is
posted to the forums as well.
This is especially important to mailing list owners (those who
request the creation of the list). In order to encourage people to take
part in Team MK activities the mailing lists should not be used instead of the forum
they should be used as well as the forum. If you only use a mailing
list to comunicate with your subscribers then you are cutting off a
large number of people who might not even realise things are going on.
An example of this would be a mailing list dedicated to a weekly ride. If the start time is changed the evening before you can use the mailing list for the ride to reach all subscribers and let them know. Hopefully they will see their emails when they may not remember to check the forum. However if it was an advertised training event then there may be non Team MK people planning to come along who are not on the list or members who dont have access to email at the time. If you dont post in the forums as well then they will be left out and unaware of the changes.
