Marcus Whelband made the short trip to the Cambridge Triathlon at Mepal Outdoor Centre near Ely On Sunday. It was a small event with only 127 competitors and hardly any supporters. Marcus was off at 8:40 in the fantastically clear and warm lake. He finished the swim (including T1) in 31 mins – about halfway down his wave, after having managed to avoid the massive carp that he was sharing the lake with! Out on a pancake flat 1-lap bike course, luckily the wind had died down from Saturday, and back into T2 in 1:11. By this time the heat was at full blast and the run on dusty lanes around the fields with a head wind in part and 30°C made for a slow (for him) run of 46 mins. That made an overall time of 2:28 and he was first home for TeamMK! You can only race who turns up you know.

**Ed- The course looks like the run was a bit on the long side..
