Northampton Classic Olympic

Sun, 9th Sept 2007

On a warm muggy day a number of TeamMK triathletes went to compete at the olympic distance event at Grendon Lakes. The event included World Qualification slots.

Mark Booth showed his class again with possibly his best Tri this year and 11th overall. The 2nd fastest bike split (2nd over 40) and winning his category (V45) all made this an impressive end of season display. Kieron Lewis produced a solid 2:05 for 28th while 50 year old Trevor Hook showed that age and serious illness is no barrier to continued improvement with a 2:12 and 79th. Trevor now limits his losses on the swim and is in great form on the bike. Andy Stiles was next in 112th and the fastest teamMK swim time. Jamie Hawthorne was slower than normal on the swim and bike (puncture?) and produced a disappointing for him 2:17. Mark Church unfortunately didn't register on the "run out" mat losing his splits. He was 122nd, close behind Jamie.

Vivion Cox and Marcus Whelband  were next in with 2:25 followed by Graham Mackie in 2:28. Our sole woman was Corinne Price, fresh from the World Champs in Hamburg. She recorded 2:35 with Brian Mead following in 326th and 2:49.
