3 Wins for Team MK at the Mids XC this weekend.

Ceri Dipple, Lynne Coldray & Niall Frost all win their categories.

Ceri and I report:

The final round of the Mids XC took place this weekend at Sherwood pines. It was a fantastic but relentless course with no recovery sections, a 12km lap with about 2/3rds on sweeping single track made up of some slightly technical sections and fast swooping trails. We both commented that it was one of the best courses we had ridden.

Cerri raced in the sports category and myself the vets (in fact the only vet a shortage of old women, so I won and lost!). I knew it wasn’t going to be my lucky day when Ceri rode into my derailleur on our warm up lap!

Even though I technically had no one to race against I decided to go for it and see how I could compete against the masters. We both had a good start, I led us through on the first flat section then let Ceri take over on the more technical part, a good wheel to follow. We were both doing well riding in a group with a master and expert lady, both holding our own. Disaster then struck for me, my saddle came loose on the seat post – going backwards, I tried to ride and ignore it but it was the most bizarre seating style and I knew I couldn’t complete 9 miles standing up, I had to stop and bang it back in position in fact overall I had to stop 5 times. Ceri continued racing well until near the end when a slight lapse in concentration caused her to go over the bars! Only slightly battered she continued to come in first in Sport, I arrived a couple of minutes later pleased considering the number of times I had to stop.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the race and it was a good start to our Dusk to Dawn training.

Also representing Team MK was Niall Frost coming first out of a field of 59 riders a superb result
