Ride 101 Sportive (Thame)
The Chilterns will get worn out with all these sportives.
| Ride 101 |
11/10/2009, Chiltern Hills / Aylesbury Vale
Ride 101 is a new event that will take cyclists through 101 miles of stunning and challenging countryside. The ride starts from Thame Leisure Centre and heads in to the Chilterns for a sampling of hills. The early part of the ride will take riders past the Prime Ministers country residence Chequers, the exclusive health spa Champneys and Whipsnade Zoo.
There will be 3 feedstations on the route, the first coming at Wendover Woods and the second not long after the zoo. Here you will be able to look out over what appears to be a very flat Aylesbury Vale, where riders will be heading out for the second half of the ride. The respite is short lived as the terrain becomes more undulating (compared to the hilly chilterns) during the latter stages of the ride. There will be tougher Sportives, but with almost 6000feet of varied climbing, fantastic scenery there will be few to match it. For some the distance will be the challenge, for others it will be the varied climbing.
