VTTA L&HC vets BAR - 6th for Geoff Perry
Geoff improved by a position from 2009 to get (an impressive?) 6th place in the Vets BAR over 10m, 25m, 50m & 100m. London & Home Counties is the regional section of the VTTA (Vets Time Trialling Association) which you join when you sign up to join the VTTA. There are national competitions as well.
A rather complicated bits of maths works out the league positions. I think that the age related Vets standards are translated into a mph average for each distance of 10m, 25m, 50m & 100m. Riders times for each distance are translated into a mph average and compared to their age related mph average (I hope you are keeping up), and the difference calculated. The 4 differences are totalled and divided by 4 and this result is used to rank the league. mph= miles per hour, so none of this kph stuff.
Calculating the average is rather unnecessary as the rankings are unaffected by division by 4, but rules are rules! Also for the shorter distances the times have to be achieved on local courses, so none of this Levens or Welsh-ski-slope stuff.
Perhaps next year we can get some new young old uns riding and have a go at the team competition, although that will be a bit tough. Possibility that we might be able to provide some competition in the Ladies section.
There are 2 versions of the table.
This version is the mens table with all the nitty gritty.
This version includes the team&womens result along with details of the annual dinner.
