Brickhill Challenge - Reliability (Harley Hall)
Confirmation that this is the Brickhill Challenge on Sun 21st Feb. and the on-line entry system is on the Race Timing Systems website, just like the MK Cycle Sportive.
Route basically the same as last year but hopefully without the railway works.
This event is the 3rd edition of which has proved very popular for local riders seeking confirmation of early season fitness.
Distance is just over 50 miles and has approx 3500ft of climbing. There are 18 climbs, 4 over 15 %.
The course is on the southern flank of Milton Keynes and is based around the Brickhills.
We have tried to include every climb in the Brickhills. This means that the course is very compact and that you are never more than 10 miles from HQ.
The Route passes the famous Woburn International Golf course, Woburn Abbey and the Beautiful villages of Aspley Guise, Woburn Sands, Woburn, Bow Brickhill, Great Brickhill, Little Brickhill, Drayton Parslow and Stoke Hammond.
Have been 85 entrants in the last 2 years but hoping for more this year, as it will be advertised on www.cyclosport.org
Start/Finish the usual place at Harley Hall at the Junction of V10 Brickhill Street H9 Groveway close to the Open Universty.
Parking is adjacent (200 meters from HQ) in the Open University car park (MK7 6AA). Unlike previous years this means no chaos on the drive up to Harley Hall.
No intermediate feeds (this is a reliability ride) but refreshments are provided at the end.
Entry is £6 (entries on the day accepted). Best to enter in advance to minimise any administration on the day, and have to carry the lantern rouge.
Jeff Hathaway (1st claim TMK/2nd claim NBRC - ditto) is one of the main organisers for this event.
Will add a link to the 2009 event when I can locate it. There was snow last year but we're used to it now!!!
Goes without saying that this will be good training for the Cycle~MK Sportive
