Open water swim training takes place at Haversham lakes. Typically between 20-30 people turn up between 6 and 8am. People generally swim 1 or 2 laps of 1500m, although short loops are available for those getting used to open water or wanting to do short faster reps.
This year there will be regular coached sessions for novice swimmers aimed at building up their water confidence. Typically this is useful for those looking to do their first open water race this season. However with the 3 swim coaches (Mark Booth, Robin Dowswell and Toni Heap) involved there is scope also for intermediate swimmers to pick up a few tricks of the trade also. Watch the news page for updates on when the next coached session will be.
Somebody normally opens up the lake at 6am ish although there is a main group that go out at 7am. Everyone needs to be finished by 8am as the boat club to whom the lake belongs use the lake after this.
