This weeks MTB round up

The last week has seen both Lee Goodman and Lynne Coldray in action at Mtb events

Lee Goodman reports below on his commendable 8th posistion at Bulwick last Friday:

Wasn’t looking forward to tonights race its not the sort of course I like totally flat and nothing technical. About 12 of us went straight off from the start where I got myself into a good posistion however unfortuantly for me rider fell right in front of me and I lost those helpful wheels. The conditions were not pleasant in the wooded areas where we were confronted with riding through 20 foot water splashes! I was stuck in no mans land watching the train of 7 riders in front of me working away like a road race I hoped for some other riders to catch me in order to gain some more momentum but this never really happened. All I could do was put everything into it and rode as fast as I could through the wet and bumpy wooded section. I finished a disappointing 8th and for the 3rd week running now having had to totally strip and clean bike oh the joys of riding mtb!!

and my report from Black Park XC

I rode in West Draytons mtb's XC race at Black Park Iver last Sunday, a great short (2.5 mile) flat technical course. I chose to drop a catagory from the vets to the open women as I wanted to race against a few more riders, I would have been the only lady vet (could have won and lost!) this meant I had to complete 7 laps. It was fantastic conditions sunny dry and not too many people out on the course however I had a nightmare, on the first lap I missed two bends and got a puncture and on the second lap I had to stop again to put some air in my tyre, I felt like giving up as I knew I would never catch the top 3 however I didn't  as I thought the experience would be good! and i'm glad I didn't as looking at the lap times without the punctures I would have got 3rd place a little solace from a bad day out. I would certainly reccomend any future races there particularly if you like flat courses with plenty of single track and you don't mind shouting at the odd member of the public who think it is great to wander on a mtb course.
