Triathlon

Triathletes from TeamMK compete in competitions ranging from local "Big Cow" events to international events such as the World Championships and the Hawaii Ironman. All standards are catered for, from beginners to those trying to reach the top of the podium in elite races. The first triathlon club in Milton Keynes was formed in the 80's with many members based around Newport Pagnell. In the 90's the club merged with the MK cycling club and by 2001 had become TeamMK - a club with a handful of star performers and a solid core of regular competitors that give the club a friendly, supportive atmosphere. We are a BTF affiliated club and are in the BTF handbook.

Successful triathletes that have competed for TeamMK now and in the past include Mark Booth (Double National Veteran champion and European Age group champion), Greg McDonald, Martin Yelling and Adam Bowden.

2012 - Preview

In Olympic year Big Cow events are hosting 2 Age group national championships, a feather in their cap. The National age group Olympic distance event is back at Shropshire and the National Relays are again at Nottingham. Here are some of the dates known so far:

13th May:             Grendon Tri Distance: 750m-20k-5k Cost: £44

13th May:             Stowe Tri Distance: 1.5k-38.8k-5k Cost £52   (also a sprint distance as well, which is also £52!)

20th May:             Bedford Sprint 2 Distance: 400m-24k-5k Cost: £31 (pool based)

27th May:            Big Cow Sprint - National Sprint Championships, Emberton Park, Distance: 750m-20k-5k Cost: £45

16th June:          Dambuster Triathlon Distance: 1.5k-40k-10k, Cost: £60

24th June:          Shropshire Triathlon - National Olympic - Ellesmere, £62

24th June:          Northampton Tri, Distance: 1.5k-40k-10k, Cost: £55

29th July:            Bedford Classic, Distance: 1.5k-40k-10k, Cost: £51

19th August:       MK Triathlon - the local one, Distance: 1.5k-40k-10k Cost: £65

25-26th August: Nottingham relays - National Relays, Holme Pierrepopint National Water sports venue. likely to be subsidised and cost £0

09th Sept:            Big Cow sprint Tri No 2, Emberton Park, incorporating the English Club Championships, Distance: 750m-20k-5k Cost: £45 but may be subsidised

22/23 Sept          London Triathlon, Distances: 1.5k-40k-10k Cost: £85 and other distances also.

07th Oct:             Bedford Sprint 3 Distance: 400m-24k-5k Cost: £31 (pool based)

14th Oct:              ITU World Championships, Auckland, New Zealand

1/2 Ironman, Ironman and other distance events including 1-1-1.

26th May        The Beaver 1/2 Ironman, Distance: 1.9k-46m-13m, Cost: £94

10th June      Bala Tri, 1/2 Ironman, DIstance 2k-78.5k-20k, Cost £88
